![]() ![]() This lets you know if you're accelerating too hard, braking too hard, and will let you know you're idle time. This "rates" your driving on a scale that you personalize by setting a fuel economy goal. as you mentioned, and something many people seem to just throw off to the side until they actually own the GT is the watchdog economy control. Not trying to bash our "competition", but there are reasons behind us not just building a module for the Toyota! We offer the gauge monitoring to monitor load, coolant, etc. We both know that modules will almost always get detuned after a certain amount of time, and it's just not the proper way to tune an engine. We offer special features that no one else can offer, (no one else can actually offer anything!) and power gains that no one else can touch either, (unless of course you get a custom tune). I wouldn't be surprised if in less than a year everyone takes tuning a Toyota for granted, but we/you know the real story and how big of a deal it really is. An opportunity to be part of the first crowd to ever tune their Toyota. This is Bully Dog! For a limited time, people have the opportunity to be a part of something huge. As you know, we are the ONLY people with a tuner for the Toyota. Long story short, they found the maps in the Tacoma tuning as well, and it (should) add substantial gains to that.ģ) This isn't the only place value is coming from. But, when tuning the TRD engines, the engineers stumbled upon some maps. Right now I can say that it will at least get you 10 hp. We've actually not had a n/a Tacoma in for a little while, so the tune is a little behind on horsepower gains compared to our other tunes. If you have seen or heard something like that, it probably wasn't from us. ![]() It's the kind of phrasing you see on box chip on ebay selling for 20.00. The engineers have been working on this for years so the details are a pretty touchy subject to them! But a big thing is removing limiters, (keep in mind, the one's we are removing or adjusting will not be a danger, or even make the truck less safe than originally).Ģ) Bully Dog is actually against the whole idea of "up to." generalization. We are also leaning it out a bit, as well as changing around the timing. Part of what we do is removing limiters, which in turn allows more air to the engine. Dowside for BD in my case is that I already have a Scangauge and the PC-based VCI reader, so for me it's performance justification, which is hard to do without further data.ġ) The trucks have a whole bunch limiters, and many of them aren't necessarily safety limiters. And with a $900 retail, I need to know if the premium tune only gives me 5HP because I only have a NA 4.0, and not SC'd nor a 5.7.ģ) I understand that the BD value come from performance, extended gauges, obdii reader, and settings modifications. With only the marketing numbers I don't know what to expect for my truck. This is so that when something else happens I can understand if the BD is any part of a problem, and also understand if any other mod I make might have a good/bad affect on my truck.Ģ) The general HP numbers are fine, but are marketing driven (i.e., "up to.") as I would like some specific info for my truck, 09 Tacoma 4.0 NA. BUT, I do expect to have a reasonable general description of what optimizations BD makes. For me I don't need specifics (I worded my post wrong) as I understand that the specifics are proprietary. Since I had posed one of the concerns about what y'awl are doing to get the gains, I will add a bit.ġ) Keep in mind I am trying to justify Chas' price, with the capability of the device. I can tell you that it is more than just the a/f ratio, and that we're constantly discovering new maps in the ecm that unlock more power. If I do, the engineers will get mad, and next time you hear from me will be when you toss a coin in my cup. ![]() I can't tell you anything about how the engineers are getting the power. Just from reading through the thread real quick I saw some stipulation about how we're getting the extra horses. Please keep in mind that I won't be able to answer questions all at once and/or immediately, especially if you bomb me with a thousand! But I'll do my best. Unfortunately he doesn't have the time to reanswer a whole bunch of questions, so I'm going to recommend checking out that thread (It's on TT, and has been in the active topics section for the last few weeks so you should still see it there) but I am also willing to answer questions on here. We didn't ask him to, he just saw the thread and hopped on it. I might get in trouble with the forum for stating this (sorry!) but there is another forum that one of our guys has been on for a while now. I understand that you guys have a whole lot of questions that need answering.
